Terms of entry

Draft. This policy is a plain-English starting point and has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. Anything marked TBC needs a real value before the site goes live.

Who's running this

The Wānaka HYROX Simulation is organised by TBC — registered entity name. Contact: hyroxsim@racewanaka.co.nz.

An independently organised simulation event. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by HYROX. HYROX is a registered trademark of its respective owner and is used here only to describe the race format.

Entering

  • Every athlete must be at least 16 years old on the day they race.
  • Whoever completes the entry confirms they have permission to provide the details of every athlete on it, and will pass on everything we send.
  • Entries are personal to the athletes named, and not for resale at a profit.
  • Your spot isn't confirmed until payment clears and you receive a confirmation email with a reference number.

Your health, and the risk you're taking on

This is a physically demanding event. By entering you confirm that every athlete on the entry is medically fit to take part, has no condition that would make participation unsafe, and is taking part at their own risk.

You agree to stop and seek help if you feel unwell, and to follow any instruction from our officials or medical team — including an instruction to withdraw. We may remove an athlete from the course if we believe continuing is unsafe. That decision is final and is made for one reason only.

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or any other New Zealand law that cannot be excluded.

Racing

  • All athletes race Open weights. Movement standards follow the HYROX race format and are judged consistently for everyone.
  • Judges may require a repetition to be repeated if it doesn't meet the standard. Argue with the result afterwards, not with the judge on the floor.
  • Age grades are calculated from date of birth as at the day you race, and are used for ranking only.
  • Adaptive equipment and movement standards are agreed individually with each adaptive athlete before race day, and are final once agreed.
  • There is no time limit and no cut-off. We will, however, close the floor at the end of the published schedule.
  • Results are provisional until published. We may correct or withdraw a result if there's a timing error or a rules breach.

Conduct

Look after each other, the equipment, the venue and the neighbourhood. The run course uses public streets — obey marshals, give way to traffic and pedestrians, and keep the noise reasonable early in the morning.

Paetara Aspiring Central is a community facility, and its own code of conduct applies. Abuse of officials, volunteers, other athletes or the public will get you removed without a refund.

Photography and results

We take photos and video at the event and publish results with athletes' names, categories and times. By entering you agree we may use images and results from the event to promote it. If you'd rather not appear, email us before race day and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

Changes, cancellation and refunds

We may change the schedule, wave times, course details or event format where we need to. If a change is significant we'll tell everyone by email.

Refunds, transfers and day changes are covered in the refunds and transfers policy.

Payments

Prices are in New Zealand dollars and include GST. Card payments are processed by Airwallex; we never see or store your full card details. Your bank statement will show a descriptor beginning WANAKA HYROX SIM.

Your data

How we handle your information is set out in our privacy policy.
